The Strand is a prominent feature used by many outdoor recreational enthusiasts. The 22-mile paved bike path runs along the beachfront, winding from Santa Monica to Palos Verdes. Pedestrians, cyclists, and skaters can eat, drink, shop, and explore numerous beach towns without ever getting into their cars.
The annual
Beach Life Festival celebrates the beauty of the ocean and coastal resources, along with the music and art of Southern California's culture. The three-day festival features four music stages and over 50 bands. Last year's lineup included Weezer, Smashing Pumpkins, Steve Miller Band, Sheryl Crow, and many more.
Hermosa Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Los Angeles County, with 94 acres of public space and two miles of ocean frontage. The city-owned beach runs along Santa Monica Bay and is known for excellent surfing, volleyball, and good swimming areas. The

Erected in 1920, the
Manhattan Beach Pier is the oldest concrete pier on the West Coast and is a state historic landmark.
